For a competition going on in tafe called "Fact or Fiction" (choose a character/person from history to do a portrait of), I decided to do Jak from the game 'Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy'. I wanted to do something in a sort of art nouveau kind of style, showing the villages you travel through (each representing a different type of eco+colour in the game) and the dark eco silo, one with white eco and one with dark eco (hinting at the eco duality in Jak in the later games). Behind Jak's head (in the circle) is the Seal of Mar which is an important plot point for his character in the second game. Daxter, his best friend turned Otsel, sits on his shoulder as he is always with Jak. They are inseparable. It would not be a portrait of Jak without Daxter in it.
I am creating the borders and seal in Illustrator to make the lines and measurements linear.
This is still a work in progress. Can't wait until it's finally finished! The backgrounds are going to be difficult but I'm welcoming the challenge.
